Overview: Phu Khao Khouay National Park Tour

Located just over an hour away from the city, Phu Khao Khouay National Park is the closest National Park to Vientiane, offering some great scenery, magnificent waterfalls, river, and trekking trails through evergreens and deciduous forests. The park is also home to rare mammals such as sun bears, tigers and elephants. The friendly village of Ban Hat Khai is a good place to learn more about the genuine lifestyle of the Lao Loum people.

9 hrs (08:00 – 17:30 hrs)

Vientiane – Ban Hatkhai

We will be transferred from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai, where a long-tail boat takes us up stream on the Nam Mang, before continuing along the Houay Xai, one of its many tributaries. A 2 hours trek passes under an evergreen canopy, while gaining height. A picnic lunch is served on the way. The magnificent pair of waterfalls Tad Xay and Pha Xay, particularly beautiful during and after the rainy season are reached in the afternoon. Tad Xay has a pool is recommended for bathing. Approximately: 2 hours transfer/1 hour boating/ 2 hours trekking

Note: In the dry season, we are not able to take long tail boat on Houay Xai stream, so we continue the boat ride further up steam on Nam Mang to meet another trekking starting point on the river bank (3 hours trek) We return to Vientiane from Ban Hatkhai (Approximately: 2 hours transfer). Drop off at your hotel.
